On the way to paradise. ♥

Tuesday 28 May 2013

Oh my god. I can't believe this is actually happening...

I'm on the way to America.

This is happening so fast, I can't even believe my eyes. I'm currently sitting in a shuttle on the way to Auckland Airport and in a few hours, I'll be on a plane to LA.

This is just amazing.

I am so happy, I can't even express my feelings wtf. I love travelling with a passion so this just feels like a dream come true. Someone pinch me - I must be dreaming. This is just far too good to be true.

But it is true.

It is real.

And it all happened in a week wtf. We booked our tickets last week. Packed our bags this morning. Climbed onto the shuttle a few minutes ago. Now all we have to do is check in, board the plane and arrive in LA baby.

Wish me luck on my adventure~ Will keep you posted hehehe.

Lots of Love,

Mimi ♥

Haircut. ♥

Saturday 25 May 2013

I am the most smartest person ever wtf.

Today I was supposed to be showing you all the wonderful Missha products I had bought recently but then... I deleted the entire post.

Oh-so-clever me had a severe case of itchy fingers and just had to test the delete button. And that post was never to be seen again...

Not to worry though - hopefully I'll be re-writing that haul sometime this week. In the meantime, I'll be blogging about my new haircut!

Before and after! ♥

Prior to the hairdressers, my hair was actually quite long! Too bad I never realised it hehehe. Layers can be extremely deceiving, I guess. Anyways, yesterday evening, I felt an urge to get a haircut. My fringe had grown so long, it was to the point that I had to tie up half of it. Not to mention, the ends of my hair were somewhat half-dead from my last hairdresser's butchering.

So this is how my hair looks now! I decided to make my fringe super thick hehehe. ♥ Now I just have to wait for my hair to grow long again~

Blending into the curtains hehe. ♥
Time for some photos! Recently my dad had someone install those extremely bright fluorescent lights in all of our bedrooms - meaning I can now take photos at night hehehe. All I need is to find the perfect spot and voila! Nice and bright photos~

*Inserts hundreds of selfies*

Hello. ♥
My babe and I. ♥
Kisses. ♥
Making use of the white light hehehe. ♥
Going to bed now. ♥
And that's all for now! I really need to get cracking on my homework wtf. Finishing off with the treat of the day~

Giant mango jelly. ♥

Made with love. Macarons with Buttercream and Strawberry Jam. ♥

Sunday 19 May 2013

Weekends are the best days to unwind and relax. So that's what I did! I "forgot" about all my homework on Saturday afternoon and set about baking macarons.

I have no idea why I chose to bake macarons. Trust me to pick the most time-consuming thing to make.

Drawing circles. ♥
Firstly, I had to draw circles onto two sheets of baking paper. This took forever - and when I say "forever", I mean half an hour wtf. I had to go get a ruler and make sure every circle was perfectly aligned before I actually started making the batter. *Angry* OCD is horribly annoying.

Almond Meal + Powdered Sugar ♥
Next I had to blend almond meal with icing sugar. To me, this step was completely useless as I had already sieved the almond meal and the icing sugar. *Wasting my life away*

Sieving the mixture. ♥
Then I had to sieve the mixture again wtf. I have no life.

Picked out two pretty eggs. ♥
Is it just me, or can you see a face? This headache is making me see things wtf.

I suck at cracking eggs. ♥
Next I had to separate the egg whites from the egg yolks. As you can see, I am clearly the master of cracking eggs wtf. I am so pro, I managed to crack them out of the bowl. Now that takes some real talent. Just like falling up the stairs. And tripping over air. Like I said, that takes some real talent..

Glossy meringue! ♥
After I cleaned up the bench - the eggs went everywhere except in the bowl -, I had to beat the egg whites until they became nice and fluffy! This was incredibly exhausting and I was using a mixer wtf. I was tired from watching it I guess.

Pink ripples of yummy-ness ♥
Tinted it pink of course! ♥ I think I took three hours to make these macarons wtf. The first time I tried making macarons, I took an hour and failed miserably hehehe. I guess my macarons became well-rested after I kept stopping to take photos.

Happiest moment of my life! None of them cracked! ♥
Ta-da! Not bad, if I do say so myself. You have no idea how stressed I was about burning them. Every few minutes, I would leap up from the couch and run for my life. The last time I tried making macarons, I forgot about them and they turned dark brown. *Sad* Such a waste of my time. At least these ones turned out nice!

Yay for the little feet~ ♥
This is actually my second time making macarons and in my opinion, they turned out pretty well! None of the shells cracked and they actually formed feet~ Not to mention, the shells were nice and crunchy on the outside and chewy in the centre. Yay~

Macarons with buttercream and jam. ♥
The only letdown about my macarons was my buttercream. The icing kept splitting because it was too cold so in the end, I just gave up and simply filled them hehehe. It still tasted nice!

Oh-so-jammy! ♥ They look better in person hehe~ ♥
Anyways, that's enough for today! I have a splitting headache and can't be bothered to write anymore. If you would like to see the recipe I used, simply click on the following link - Mad for Macarons!

Missha Liquidly One-Step Milk To Peeling Cleanser Review ♥

Tuesday 14 May 2013

Hello my lovelies!

How have you all been in the last week? I've been incredibly stressed since the start of school because I swear my time management skills are getting worse and worse. For instance, I still haven't finished my math homework which some people finished last term and I'm also three pages behind in Graphics. I really need to work on the rest of my stuff as well. *Sigh*

Anyways, today I'm going to be talking about the new cleanser I bought from Missha!

As you all probably know, I've recently been in love with everything from Missha. I swear they can make everything sound amazing - even cleansing puffs. ♥

These Konjac sponges are amazing apparently~ ♥
I mean the descriptions are so good, I just had to buy one of each kind. Luckily there were only two hehehe. If there were 10, I'd be bankrupt with only 10 sponges to show for my entire life savings wtf.

Anyways, as I was saying, when I found out they were having a summer sale on some of their skincare products, I just had to get something hehe. So there I was, sitting at my laptop, looking at all of their products one by one. However, there was only one item that really stood out to me. That item was the Missha Liquidly One-Step Milk To Peeling Cleanser which I will be reviewing today!

Missha Liquidly One-Step Milk To Peeling Cleanser~ ♥
When I saw it for the first time in my life, I knew I had to have it. *Dramatic* I love anything with gimmicks (especially skincare products) so when I saw they were doing a sale, l I just had to get it! Just the sound of it's name - Missha Liquidly One-Step Milk To Peeling Cleanser - had me adding this to my cart. I mean, doesn't it sound pretty amazing? How can you resist a cleanser that transforms from a milky essence to a peeling gel that gently exfoliates your skin? Or a sleeping pack that forms moist water droplets on your skin. Or best of all, an oxygen mask that bubbles. But more on those later hehehe~

Nice and simple packaging! ♥
So I was just about to hit the check out button when I realised... What if it's really bad and breaks me out? I haven't had much luck with milk cleansers in the past so I was incredibly skeptical. Luckily Lindy had a sample of it  - which she gave to me to try!

I'm not usually a fan of milk cleansers as they usually don't suit my skin. The ones I've tried in the past were always far too moisturizing rather than cleansing so I ended up with greasy skin that didn't feel cleansed at all.
So when I was tried the cleanser for the first time, I was a bit worried.

Little blob hehehe. ♥
When I squeezed out a blob of the cleanser, I noticed how fine and dense it felt. Usually milk cleansers are quite light and smooth so this was a change!

See how there are tiny beads? ♥
I began to massage the cream onto my face and immediately it went from a thick paste to a soft exfoliator with tiny beads. It felt really nice and gentle on my skin with fine little beads rubbing off the dirt hehehe.

Super love the peeling effect. ♥
I kept rubbing my face until the cleanser began to peel which was pretty satisfying to be honest hehehe. I love seeing the little balls of cleanser/dirt/dead skin form and fall off. It makes me feel like my skin is actually being cleaned of all the disgusting stuff hehe.

Prettiest canola oil ever. ♥

So I was really pleased with the effects of the cleanser... until I realised how oily my face was. My face felt so horribly greasy, it was as if I had applied oil to my face. I was so disappointed - I had loved how it exfoliated and loved how it peeled and then I was completely let down by the most important part - cleansing. I was thinking to myself:

'What kind of cleanser is this? What's the point of have a cleanser that exfoliates and peels but doesn't cleanse?? I swear my face was less greasy before I used this wtf. If I wanted to have a grease ball for a face, I would've just washed my face with oil. Like seriously... This sucks. I think canola oil would've just been as good.'

And after factoring in everything, the only pleasant thing left about the cleanser was the scent. Unlike my face, it was nice and refreshing - it smelt like lemongrass.

Then I rinsed my face.
Oh. My. God. This is magic.

My skin felt a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Not even exaggerating! It felt incredibly soft, smooth and moisturised - without being greasy! It felt like I had been moisturising all my life and that the moisture was actually coming from within. Basically, my face felt like a baby's bottom.

Not to mention, my face felt cleansed and refreshed! One of the reasons why I don't usually like milk cleansers is because my face still feels dirty and tired, even after I wash off/wipe off the day's layer of dirt. I love it when cleansers give me that nice squeaky clean feeling and the Missha Liquidly One-Step Milk To Peeling Cleanser managed to do that - even though it was moisturising!

Hygienic dispenser! Yay for pump bottles. ♥
I am in love with this cleanser and would definitely recommend it to anyone - especially people with sensitive skin. My skin is easily irritated by things like exfoliants and sometimes after using a scrub too often, my skin breaks out in little patches of acne. This is because the exfoliator is too harsh for my skin to handle on a regular basis so this is cleanser is great for me - I can exfoliate everyday with this! Super love.

Colorant-Free! Alcohol-Free! Hypo-allergenic! ♥
Anyways, I've been using this for nearly two weeks and I haven't broken out so far~ *Touch wood* So I would seriously recommend buying this! If you're looking to try a new cleanser that is gentle on your skin and not to mention, hypo-allergenic, the Missha Liquidly One-Step Milk To Peeling Cleanser is for you. If you are just looking for a new and exciting product to try, this is still the one for you because it has a wonderful exfoliating and peeling gimmick hehehe.

Cute little samples. ♥ Little pink bottles hehe~ ♥
Overall this product is amazing and is definitely a must-try. ♥ To think I nearly missed out on this - I bought the very last one hehehe~ But luckily for you, they've restocked and Missha is currently holding another sale~ 'The Second Sale of the Year' promotion runs from Monday 6 May to Sunday 19 May! So go check it out right now hehehe.

Lots of Love,

Mimi ♥

Mothers' Day at KK Malaysia Cuisine in Epsom ♥

Sunday 12 May 2013

Happy Mother's Day! ♥ I hope you all had a wonderful day with your family hehehe~

Today my family and I went to KK Malaysian Cuisine in Epsom for lunch! This Malaysian restaurant has been opened since 2003 and has always been popular with the locals. The food there is absolutely delicious and the Nasi Lemak tastes just as good - if not better than the ones I've tried in Malaysia.  And I've tried plenty. Even my parents agree and they're Malaysian.

Anyways, KK is always crowded with plenty of diners filling up every table - even on a quiet night. We had forgotten to book in advance and weren't expecting a table - but luckily a table was free hehehe.

Some of the dishes we ordered~ ♥

Rendang Chicken. ♥
Rendang Chicken is a "dry" Indonesian curry that is rich in spices and cream. The pre-marinated chicken pieces slowly cook with kaffir lime and red curry paste before finishing with slow toasted desiccated coconut. By the way, I'm stealing their description hehehe~

This was my mum's favourite dish~ ♥ It was slightly too greasy for my liking but everyone else seemed to enjoy it.

Sambal Eggplant with chicken and shrimp. ♥
Diced eggplants stir-fried with chicken, shrimp and sambal, a Malaysian style chilli. There's nothing much to say about this dish, especially because I didn't try it - not a fan of eggplants.

Sambal Squid~ ♥
Squid cooked perfectly with sambal, chunky tomato and spring onion. Super love. ♥ This was my favourite dish today without a doubt. The squid was so soft and tender, it was as if they had steamed them gently for hours. They just melted in your mouth - it was the most tender squid I've had in my life. ♥ I absolutely hate it when squids taste like gumboots - all rubbery and chewy like plastic wtf.

We also ordered a fish but it was too ugly to photograph wtf.  And that's saying something cause I took photos of everything else - and they all looked bad.

They now have Chocolate Sorbet and Lemon Sorbet! ♥
Anyways, after having an incredibly rich and greasy lunch full of spices, we went to Yoghurt Culture to have a cup of froyo. If you haven't already read my post on Yoghurt Culture, you can read it here - Frozen Yoghurt and Froyo at Yoghurt Culture (YoC) in Newmarket. ♥ I didn't really feel like eating frozen yoghurt today but hey, you can never go wrong with Snickers froyo hehehe.

Ugly froyo of the day hehehe~ ♥
My little brother really loves his froyo and fish eggs wtf. ♥
You know you've been eating too much frozen yoghurt when both shop owners recognise you wtf. I'm like their number one fan I guess?! They were super nice and gave my family 10% off hehehe~

Apparently I'm also a regular at a few other places - the bubble tea ladies recognise me and always give me a discount! They also know I'll only order milk tea hehe. ♥ Once I left my phone behind on the table and was panicking because someone might've taken it - but they found it just after I left! They kept it overnight in the cash register and when I came in the next day looking for it,  they gave it to me! Yay~

 Anyways, that's all for today! I'll be posting a review soon~ ♥

Lots of Love,

Frozen Yoghurt and Froyo at Yoghurt Culture (YoC) in Newmarket, Auckland. ♥

Sunday 5 May 2013

Freaking out because it's school tomorrow and I am definitely not ready. I haven't even started doing my homework which was supposed to be done over the holidays wtf. I had to go and leave it all to the last day. Ugh.

Anyways, I'm just going to relax and write this post and worry about packing and everything later hehehe. ♥ I know I'm going to panic and freak out at 1am but that's not my problem for another few hours wtf. That reminds me - my sleeping schedule is really messed up. I sleep at like 3am nowadays and get up at 1pm. Going to die tomorrow.

Their logo.
On with my blog post! If you've been to Newmarket recently, you might've noticed a new frozen yoghurt place called 'Yoghurt Culture' outside Newmarket Station Square. ♥

The place had been under renovation for quite a while and suddenly it opened out of the blue without any warning wtf.

Very sorry for the bad angle hehehe.
They opened around a week and a bit ago and was simply a makeshift place where they only had the basics - machines, toppings and tables. There was nothing fancy about the interior design so I was surprised it was so simple yet took so long.

Six flavours.
But anyways, none of that really mattered because when Lanny and I went into there, we filled our cups happily with yoghurt hehe. ♥ Oh and fish eggs wtf but more on that later.

The next day, I came back to have more froyo with my other friends (I live for food) and apparently the store had closed down wtf. They closed the shop and have been under renovation ever since which is basically a long time. *Cries* Since then I've been waiting forever for them to open up so I can get my fish ovaries. Lovely, I know.

Our froyo from yesterday.
A few days ago, I swore to Lindy - "When they open, let me know and I'll be there in a heart beat." And guess what? They finally re-opened yesterday!

Lindy's prettier-than-mine froyo.
I was sooo happy because I can now have froyo everyday hehehe~ ♥ It's not like I would actually eat it everyday but I'd like to have the option of having it regularly! This means I'll no longer get lost on public transport because I won't need to bus to somewhere faraway for it wtf - I am the master of getting lost on buses and trains.

But anyways, because life is against me, they opened yesterday - the day where it was incredibly cold, rainy and asdfghjkl disgustingly wet wtf. It was absolutely pouring with rain while I was getting down from the car and when I tried to step out, I had the luck of planting my foot into a kerbside river.

My foot went swimming.

It tasted delicious okay? ♥ Super love.
But it didn't really matter because in the end, I got my frozen yoghurt hehehe. The cup of froyo I had was beautiful with these lovely swirls of milk chocolate and Snickers yoghurt. Too bad it looked like poop because it was brown. Not to mention, it also had a heaped spoon of fish eggs which didn't look nice with the brown-ness. *Sad* But at least it tasted delicious!

Today's froyo. ♥ See the fish eggs?
Yay~ Today's frozen yoghurt was a lot prettier. ♥ Still not very delicious looking but it's what's on the inside that matters! The amount of fish eggs also counts hehehe. ♥ The fish ovaries are actually popping yoghurt balls! I absolutely love them because it's like balloons of yoghurt exploding in your mouth. Too bad Jennyfer hates them and reckons it's like eating skin wtf. Oh well, more for me!

I don't even like grape...
Anyways,  today I went back again with Lindy and Jennyfer and we got more frozen yoghurt! I took a few photos *shameless* but I couldn't take any close up or detailed ones because that's too embarrassing hehehe.

One of the things I like about the froyo at Yoghurt Culture is that it's the perfect consistency! The frozen yoghurt at KiwiYo is slightly too watery and melts in seconds whereas this one stays solid for longer hehehe. However, KiwiYo has more flavours like Banoffee Pie which is one of my favourite flavours of all time. ♥

Overall, Yoghurt Culture is nicer than KiwiYo as their consistency and quality is absolutely perfect. Not to mention, they have an amazing Snickers flavour which tastes exactly like the bar - but nicer. ♥ Super love eating my Snickers and Milk Chocolate froyo together! It's like heaven in a paper cup wtf. ♥

Anyways, go check the place out because they seriously need more customers. I swear every time I go in, it's like a deserted shop wtf. Like the only people in there are the shop owners. *Feels bad* That's all for now but seriously, visit
Yoghurt Culture as soon as possible because you're definitely missing out! *Drools*

Lots of Love,

Mimi ♥

Holika Holika 3 Seconds Starter Vita Complex Review ♥

Thursday 2 May 2013

According to Lindy, apparently my blog is slowly turning into a beauty blog whether I like it or not.

Now that I think about it, it is sort of true.

Can't have enough.
I guess it's because I am o-b-s-e-s-s-e-d with Asian cosmetics. Especially skincare products~ ♥

Anyways, two parcels finally arrived yesterday! I was on the way out of my house and I saw these two long boxes jutting out of the mail box and nearly cried wtf. I was sooo happy and excited to see my packages when I realised... I can't open them.

How rude.

Da da da da da~ I'm lovin' it.
I couldn't open them because I was meeting up with Lindy that day and already made her wait two hours hehehe. We were supposed to go to McDonald's for brunch (healthy, I know) and I was meeting her at around 12pm. I left the house at 2pm wtf. But in the end, we got our McSpicys which are sooo delicious oh my god. They taste especially amazing after you've been craving them for a week.

Holika Holika 3 Seconds Starter Vita Complex ♥
Anyways, enough of my rambling hehehe~ I'm going to be writing a review on one of the products I got yesterday - the Holika Holika 3 Seconds Starter Vita Complex! *Cue photo-heavy post*

Super vibrant packaging~ ♥
I love the look of the 3 Seconds Starter! The packaging is nice and vibrant, even though it's actually matte. ♥ It also came wrapped and sealed in another plastic layer so you can tell it's brand new and unused~

Looks like a droplet! ♥
Super comfortable to hold. ♥
The pump of this bottle feels ergonomically designed and is easy to use~ See how my finger comfortably follows the shape of the nozzle? Love it.

Super love the nozzle! ♥
Michelle-proof packaging hehehe. ♥
One thing I love about the 3 Seconds Starter is that the bottle is sturdy and doesn't leak, meaning it's great to take along travelling. Being the total klutz I am, I accidentally dropped the bottle around ten times today and thankfully it didn't break and spill everywhere. This gets an A+ for durability and explode-proof-ness! I hate it when things explode in your bag wtf - especially shampoo and moisturiser.

The emulsion feels like water!
Do you like the amazing GIF I made? It's fabulous right? From this you can see how the 3 Seconds Starter is similar to water but not as liquid-y if that makes sense hehehe. The consistency is slightly thicker than water and is sort of jelly-ish at the same time~ I guess you could say it's like a watery gel!

See how runny it is? ♥
The 3 Seconds Starter feels really nice and cooling. You're supposed to apply this clear emulsion and let it absorb into your skin before you use toner and moisturiser so it's somewhat like a primer for your other skincare products! This step must be incredibly popular in Asia as I've seen so many different emulsions from Korean brands yet never seen an European brand sell it. Maybe we'll see it in stores soon - like the BB cream trend which has just hit Western countries!

You can see how my skin is absorbing the emulsion! ♥
This emulsion is incredibly hydrating and makes my skin feel nice and moist after I apply it. ♥ I love using this because the gel is light and is easily absorbed by my skin. My face must be incredibly thirsty wtf.

This photo was incredibly hard to take. I had to use my foot hehehe.
After applying the 3 Seconds Starter, my moisturiser feels a lot more rich and heavier than usual, meaning I have to apply less than I normally use. I actually quite like this fact because it means I can get more uses out of each product! But remember, this doesn't mean you can skip using your lotion or cream or gel - the emulsion is like an essence that locks the moisture in. This particular one (the Vita Complex) is supposed to make you skin brighter and silkier, while keeping your skin moisturised and healthy. I find that while it does make your skin slightly less dull, it's not really noticeable and the effect fades away after a while.

On the downside, one thing that absolutely puts me off this product is the scent. To me, this emulsion smells absolutely horrible like a sickly artificial orange scent - similar to the smell of orange cough syrup. It also smells like aeroplanes and detergent wtf. Makes me somewhat dizzy and want to puke. *Cries* But thankfully, the scent is unnoticeable when you apply it on your face. Yay~ ♥

But other than the fragrance, I absolutely love this emulsion because it's nice and cooling as well as hydrating! When it runs out, I'll probably try using another "flavour" of this line - perhaps the collagen one? Hehehehe it's pink and you can never go wrong with pink. ♥

Lots of Love,

Mimi ♥
